Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Airline Bumps (the "Service") at airlinebumps.com, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What the Service is
Airline Bumps is a free, beta web application that provides turbulence forecasts and crowd-sourced ride-quality reports for airline passengers. It pulls publicly available aviation weather and flight data from third-party sources (the FAA, NOAA, adsb.lol, and others) and combines it with anonymous passenger reports.
3. Not for flight planning or aviation safety use
Airline Bumps is for passenger curiosity and entertainment only. It is not approved, certified, or endorsed by any aviation authority. Pilots, flight dispatchers, air traffic personnel, and any other aviation professional must not use the Service for any operational decision. Use official FAA-approved sources for all flight-critical information.
We make no representation that any forecast, report, or data displayed is accurate, complete, current, or fit for any purpose.
4. Eligibility
The Service is not directed at children under 13. By using it you represent that you are at least 13 years old.
5. Accounts
There is no account or login system. We identify your device with an anonymous cookie token. See the Privacy Policy for details. You agree not to impersonate another user, share your device deliberately for false reports, or otherwise misrepresent identity.
6. Your submissions
When you submit a ride report, post-flight survey, or feedback message, you retain all rights to your content. However, you grant Airline Bumps a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, store, reproduce, display, share with other users of the Service, publish in aggregated or anonymized form, and analyze that content in connection with operating, improving, or commercializing the Service.
You confirm that anything you submit is:
- An honest, good-faith representation of what you actually experienced
- Not on behalf of another person without their permission
- Not unlawful, defamatory, harassing, infringing, or spam
- Not intended to manipulate or mislead other users of the Service
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit false, malicious, or automated ride reports
- Scrape, harvest, or extract data from the Service in bulk without permission
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to bypass any security or access controls
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure
- Use the Service to harass, threaten, defame, or harm any person or company
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service without our prior written consent
We may suspend or block access for violations.
8. Intellectual property
The Service — including its code, design, UI, name, logo, and original content — is owned by Airline Bumps and protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Third-party data displayed in the Service (PIREPs, AIRMETs, SIGMETs, METARs, ADS-B positions, etc.) is owned by the respective providers and used in accordance with their terms.
9. Third-party services and links
The Service depends on third-party data providers and infrastructure (including Cloudflare, aviationweather.gov, adsb.lol, OpenSky Network). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of any third-party service. Your use of any third-party service is subject to its own terms.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, reliability, or availability. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
We do not warrant the accuracy of any turbulence forecast, ride report, position, schedule, or other data displayed. Aviation weather and traffic are inherently unpredictable.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Airline Bumps and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill — arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.
Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months prior to the claim, or (b) US $10.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Airline Bumps and its operators from and against any claim, loss, damage, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your submissions, or your breach of these Terms.
13. Changes to the Service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part) at any time without notice or liability. Features may be added, removed, or changed.
14. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) survive.
15. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to the Service or these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Indiana, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the homepage. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
17. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Airline Bumps regarding the Service.
